Privacy Policy — BigBrainComments

BigBrainComments is a client-side browser extension that filters Reddit comments by readability. This policy describes what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and what is (and is not) stored.

Data Access

The extension reads the text content of Reddit comments on the current page. This text is processed locally in the browser to compute a readability score. The text is never stored, transmitted, or shared with any third party.

Data Storage

The extension stores the following user preferences locally via chrome.storage.sync:

• Global filtering level (off, high school, university)
• Media filter setting (keep, remove)
• Optional per-subreddit override rules

No browsing history, personal information, or comment content is stored.

Data Sharing

The extension does not make any network requests. No data is transmitted to any server, analytics service, or third party. The only external resource loaded is a static image from Ko-fi used for the "Buy Me a Coffee" badge in the extension popup.

Permissions

• storage — Saves user preferences locally
• tabs — Reads the active tab's URL to detect the current subreddit for the "Add current subreddit" feature
